How to make spicy mayonnaise tuna salad?

1) Main ingredients

Tuna Chunks: Here is a recipe where tinned tuna comes in handy because all you need to do is throw it in your mixing bowl. I usually buy tinned tuna in water and for this recipe I do not drain it because by the time I mix all the ingredients it turns into a nice texture. However, you can drain the tuna and it will still be fine.

Sriracha Sauce: The key to this recipe is of course the sriracha sauce! However, you can use any hot sauce to mix with the tuna. However, this is one of my favourite recipes using sriracha sauce because when it is combined with the other ingredients, this salad tastes so good, which you do not need to heat up.

Mayo: Mixed with sriracha sauce, it is hard to find a better combination! If you want to make it more macro-friendly, use Greek yogurt instead.

Celery: I chopped half a celery stick which will be mixed with the tuna too.

Red Onion: Ensure you use red onion for this recipe, as it will taste a lot better.

Salad: For the salad, I grated carrot, sliced a few cherry tomatoes and used lettuce as the bottom layer.

2) Method

  1. Prepare your meal prep container by layering the lettuce, carrots and tomatoes.
  2. In your mixing bowl add: tuna chunks, sriracha sauce, mayo, celery and red onion. Stir to combine.
  3. Top up your salad with the spicy tuna. Either serve immediately or refrigerate up to two days.

Why you will love this recipe?

Quick and easy: The spicy mayo tuna salad can be made in 10 minutes and enjoyed as a cold salad which is great to either prepare as a fresh meal or you can meal prep it quickly for the next day.

High in protein: This salad is high in protein and is generally well balanced as it is also under 400 calories per serving. If you feel you want to make it more macro-friendly, simply use Greek yogurt instead of mayo.

Spicy tuna: You can use this recipe to make spicy tuna which can be a filling for a sandwich, wrap or tuna melt. If you love tuna and spicy food, then you must give this a go!
